FUN AND THOUGHTS

Today's post is going to be a rant and a rave. I know I'm cra-cra, but lets go with it for now. Let's start with the rave, because I always like my dessert before my veggies :)  --haha get the Pastry chef joke?-- **ducks Raspberry Lemon Roulade thrown at her head**

Okay seriously. I love telling people that I am a pastry chef at a hotel in DC and a published author because people's faces are hilarious! I recently went with my dad to Vienna on a business trip of his, met tons of people because it was a huge conference that people bring their families too--thus my going! It was tons of fun, and during the conference I spent my days with the other family members, so naturally we all got chatting. Here are some of the A-maz-ING pics

We gotta have a picture of this one playing the accordion!

But I digress-SQUIRREL-though it does tie into my rave here. Anyways, I was telling people about my book and that the second book in the Legendary Saga was coming out in a few weeks. I just found out yesterday that CLAIMING EXCALIBUR is now available for pre-order of Amazon and B&N!!!!!!!!!! Totally psyched. Print copies will run Dec 30th, e-copies will go live Dec 16th!!
It's a tiny thing, I know, but it didn't get to happen with LEGENDARY so the fact it happened this time is so cool!
Also we just revealed the cover for CLAIMING EXCALIBUR--which my girls at Omnific did FANTASTICALY with-- and it's up on Goodreads for people to start adding it to their TBR lists--and since I love giveaways I am also putting up 2 signed print copies of LEGENDARY through  Goodreads so be sure to enter that :)
What's also cool is this Buzzfeed list a blogger friend of mine told me about! And guess what LEGENDARY is on it! Right with C.C. Hunter and Meg Cabot--two of my favorite authors :)
So that's three really amazing things for me to rave about and I can't tell you how those good things have gotten me through the stupidity of real life.

Which brings me to my rant..................
*SIGH*
I love what I do, cooking, baking, wedding and specialty cakes, playing around with different foods and flavor profiles. I have to other wise I wouldn't have been in the Food industry for 15 years!
In those years I've been crazy privileged to rub shoulders and or work for 5 star chefs, 3 Michelin star chefs, The largest fortune whatever company (Disney) and the only chef owner in the world to be 5 star 5 diamond ranked for over 26 years consecutively! That's almost as long as I've been alive! Yes, I started way to young in my business :)
Now it hasn't been all edible glitter, cupcakes and guilt free ice cream; believe me I've met enough jack-asses, egotistical-pig-headed-napoleon-complex-I think I know what I'm doing but really I just have my thumb up my butt--jerks!
WAHOOOOOO.......that took some breath.
To say I've developed a titanium skin would be an understatement, so I can take the trash talk, the disses, the back stabbing, the degrading comments and mean looks like a MMA Champ. But the thing that never fails to get under my skin is hypocrisy and ignorance.
I am very sure I'm not alone in my destestment of these two things, but sadly, many people in "position of power" fall dead center into this target's bullseye.
It can be overwhelming at times and even after a decade and half of abuse I still have trouble coping on a rare occasion. Finding new ways to cope, I realize now, was probably a big factor for me to start writing again. It was a fresh challenge, let's me show off my imagination and most of all gives me an escape from the stupid and crazy. Not that the publishing industry doesn't have that too...we all know it does...
If you've read LEGENDARY or have been one of the people to recieve ARC's of CLAIMING EXCALIBUR you'll have noticed I have some pretty strange monsters and I like to skewer/chop off head and body parts/impale creatures with magic vines..........can you say anger management?
I can :D
This always reminds me of one of my favorite author quotes, pictured below for your convince

Yeah, that's me. You should see what I do in book 3 **laughs evilly**

And that ends my rant. If you've got a rant you want to share or thoughts--random or related-- please feel free to do so in the comments section :)
I love being a writer

OMG A-maz-ING right? I love it so much, and I'm so excited that Queen Titania is the feature of this cover, makes you wonder whose next right?
Now for the official book summary!

Aliana Fagan has done what many thought impossible: she’s awakened King Arthur from his fifteen-hundred-year sleep, reunited the Knights of the Round Table, and even beaten Mordrid and Morgana LeFay in battle.
But the Destined One’s quest has only begun.
Before the knights can "unearth and reclaim their lost relics" they must survive the trip to Charleston, South Carolina and meet the newest member of the Round Table. If King Arthur’s men thought Aliana and Lacy were tenacious, they'll be even more surprised by Dawn, the third member of the fem-trio.
Deadly secrets, unexpected allies, and a traitor lurking in the shadows await Aliana and the new Round Table as they continue their search for Excalibur. Their only clue is a beyond confusing poem from a mysterious book that speaks of a terrifying creature guarding the legendary sword. Trying to build a somewhat normal relationship with Sir Galahad adds a whole new level of complexity to Aliana’s task, especially when several among them suspect the White Knight may not be wholly himself. Her friendship with King Arthur grows closer, and when circumstances become intense, he may finally get the chance with Aliana that he’s been pining for.
Mysteries, legendary quests, and haunting memories will either unite the members of the New Round Table or fracture their bonds. Aliana and her crew only have seven months before the planets align and Mordrid can seize the power he needs to conquer the seven realms. Can the Destined One keep her new family together and lead Arthur to his destiny of saving the realms? Or will a centuries-old plot for revenge finally spell the king’s end?
Head on over to Goodreads to add it to your TBR list!
And for those who are still new to my series, or don't quite know what's happening here's the blurb and links for the first book in this series LEGENDARY

Aliana Fagan spent her childhood traveling the world, dreaming of legendary heroes and mythical lands. But after the sudden death of her parents, she hides behind the safety of her camera and her art until a vivid recurring dream compels her to dig into her father's research about Avalon and Camelot. When she is hurled into a magical realm by forces she thought were only the stuff of fairy tales, she finds herself thrown into an adventure she could never have imagined. Nearly everything she thought she knew about Arthurian legend was wrong. The independent eighteen-year-old is shocked to find that the people of Avalon think that she is the Destined One, the only person who can summon King Arthur back to life from his hidden chamber. Most surprising of all is that it's up to her to lead the Knights of the Round Table on an epic quest-an adventure that will transport them across the seven magic realms to reclaim all that has been lost so they can defeat the evil Mordrid for good. But first, she must bring the ancient warriors into her world and reunite them with their lost brothers. Chaperoning the legendary knights-with-a-chivalry-complex as they navigate the modern world is a constant challenge, and she certainly never thought she'd be caught between her intense feelings for the noble Sir Galahad and her growing friendship with the King. To fulfill the prophecy, Aliana will have to discover the meaning of friendship, bravery, loyalty, true love, and forgiveness. But can she do it all in time to save the realms from Mordrid's impending Armageddon?

More news: in one week, Nov 30 we will be starting a very special tour for CLAIMING EXCALIBUR that will be filled with sneak peaks, fun information, playlists and of course GIVEAWAYS! Be sure to keep an eye open for them, I will be providing links to all the pages each day here and on my Legendary website :)
Hope you all loved this cover as much as I do!

Nancy Lindley-Gauthier BY STARLIGHT

So my ATO experiment is spilling over to here today! Nancy Lindley-Gauthier has a little for us about her book BY STARLIGHT from Dessert Breeze Press.

The night my online BFF Gracie disappeared, I had my first nightmare.
A monster loomed up from the shadows around the campfire. I ran. The thing stretched after me…
I woke gasping, still feeling something after me.
I mentioned it, kind of embarrassed really, in an email to Gracie.
She never responded.
                Not ever.
That's what lead to my summer camp counselor job up here near her home.  Hiking, canoeing and campfires fill every moment lately - but I don't forget why I'm really here.
I’m going to find Gracie.
Gram thought the camp-owner, a famous Native seer, would explain away my nightmares. She isn’t any help. Her herbal healing and flower talismans won’t help find Gracie.  There's the local ranger, but what do I tell him?  There are my campers…kids really. I’m alone with this. No one but me is making any effort to find Gracie. Yet, every step I take toward Gracie takes me nearer to something...scary.
I must find someone I can trust.

And here's a buy link for Amazon

Fall Fun

Fall is hands down my favorite season of the year! I love the beautiful colors of the changing trees, the slightly cooler temps, fall TV show premiers, the smell of the crisp, slightly chilled air and earth, hot cider and sweaters without heavy coats and scarfs! And all of this is not even taking into account Halloween, costumes and fun parties, pumpkin carving, spooky stories, candy apples, all kinds of yummy pumpkin soups and pastas and entrees and OF COURSE pumpkin pie with a huge helping of whip cream!
Can you see the pastry chef in me? LOL

I admit, I've never really tried to make my own candy/caramel/chocolate apples before this year, and I only did it because it was for a reception at my hotel. So experimenting with caramel recipes was a lot of work, but a lot of fun. I love eating caramel and chocolate apples (and no one knows how to do decoration like Disney, when it comes to covered apples!) but I hate it when I eat one and the caramel sticks to my teeth and is chewy--and not in a good way.
Fortunately, the recipe I found was like....perfect! Delicious, soft, melt in your mouth and not stick to your teeth. One thing I found so funny was how many used only caramel candies they melted down to dip the apples in. But not our recipe! No sirie, we made ours from scratch. Yummy, and so pretty too :) They would have been great with a glass of wine or an apple ale!

I just returned from Vienna, Austria and let me tell you, those Europeans know how to take full advantage of the foods in season. Pumpkin dishes were everywhere and every single one I had was beyond amazing! My absolute favorite was this pumpkin cream pasta with sage, rosemary and prawns. Simple, but beautiful, delicious and perfectly cooked pasta---not always an easy feat.

But enough about food for now, Let's talk LEGENDARY and the second book in the series CLAIMING EXCALIBUR. I am working with my publicists and several others to get the cover reveal for book 2 of my Legendary Saga all set, (if there are any readers or bloggers reading this who'd like to take part, shoot me an email) along with deciding what teasers and excerpts we want to use. You can click here to see the first official teaser from CLAIMING EXCALIBUR.
And if you have yet to enjoy the first book of my series, click this link http://tinyurl.com/m8wm76p to head over to Amazon and download the sample chapters, or buy the book!
Until then
